CCColumbus Horn - Hays Scholarship

Horn – Hays Scholarship

A scholarship offered by the Case Club of Columbus, an affiliate of the CAA. The mission of the Horn – Hays Scholarship is to attract good students to Case and to influence Case graduates to return to the Greater Columbus, Ohio area.

The Case Club of Columbus consists of members of the Case Alumni Association residing in the Greater Columbus area. They meet regularly to promote the purpose and mission of the CAA from Columbus.

Herbert E. Horn ‘23

A native Clevelander, graduated from Case School of Applied Science in 1923 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. Although he was an active member of campus, his college experience was interrupted when he joined the U.S. Navy as a flight instructor during WWI (and later as a pilot in WWII). Upon completion of his duty, Mr. Horn returned to Case to finish his degree. After graduation, he worked for the Ohio Bell Telephone Company and worked in several positions, eventually settling in Columbus. The Herbert E. Horn ‘23 scholarship was created in recognition of Mr. Horn’s 30 years of service to Case and his tireless efforts to recruit worthy students to enroll at Case.

Willard C. Hays ’42

has been an active alumnus since he graduated from the Case School of Applied Science. He became an alumni council representative in 1957 and served the Columbus chapter of the Case Alumni Association for many years. Bill received a meritorious Service Award and the Samuel H. Givelber ’23 Award for his contributions of not only money, but time, to the Case Alumni Association. The name of the Herbert E. Horn ‘23 Scholarship was changed to the Horn – Hays Scholarship in 2004 to reflect Bill’s own generosity in helping fund it over the years.
